Siegbert Ernst


Siegbert Ernst received the Tonmeister degree from the Berlin University of the Arts in 1977 and since then has been participating in numerous music productions of various classical genres, both as recording engineer and producer.

After six years of work for Teldec records in Berlin and several years abroad at BIS in Sweden, he settled as a freelancer in Southern Germany. He carried out several recording studio projects and conceived amongst others the studio equipment and acoustic irradiation of the Berlin Philharmonic Chamber Music Hall.
He attended the recordings of numerous international renowned artists, conductors, ensembles, and orchestras and was commissioned by a number of labels, media groups and broadcasting stations, such as Daniel Barenboim, Placido Domingo, Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Karina Gauvin, Vivica Genaux, Nicolai Ghiaurov, Barbara Hendricks, Philippe Jaroussky, Vesselina Kasarova, Christian Lindberg, Lucia Popp, Christophe Prégardien, Carolyn Sampson and Pierre Thibaud; Moshe Atzmon, Sergiu Celibidache, Sir Colin Davis, Antal Doráti, Zubin Mehta, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Neeme Järvi, Claudio Scimone, Günter Wand; Auryn Quartet, Bamberger Symphoniker, Bergen Philharmonic, Boston Early Music Festival, Coro e Orchestra dell’Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Ensemble Modern, I Solisti Veneti, Chamber Chorus Pécs, Great RSO of Radio Moscow, Moscow Philharmonic, Munich Philharmonic, Opera Festival Savonlinna, Philharmonic Chorus Stockholm, Philharmonic Wind Quintet Berlin, RSO Berlin, RSO Stockholm, Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden, Shin-yu Kai Chorus, SO of Danmarks Radio Copenhagen, Czech Philharmonic Prague, University of Maryland Chorus; BIS, BMG Classics, Capriccio, Camerata Tokyo, CBS, cpo, DECCA, Erato, Hänssler, Metropolitan, RCA Victor, Sony Classical, Teldec Classics, UFA; Bayerischer Rundfunk Munich, Deutschlandradio Berlin, Deutschlandfunk Cologne, Radio Bremen, Radio Suisse Romande, Sveriges Radio, Southwest German Radio. He has been frequently working at the bremen radio hall since 1990. In 2014 Siegbert Ernst won the Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording.
